Message from the President - Hong Kong Chefs Association
Established in 1991, the Hong Kong Chefs Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the culinary profession in Hong Kong. We organize activities and events which bring chefs together to exchange ideas, helping to develop and raise the profile of the culinary profession, both locally and internationally. We work closely with local charities to help serve the less fortunate in our community through a number of initiatives.
Through our youth arm, the Hong Kong Young Chefs club, we work actively with students and young professionals, in partnership with educational institutes to nurture the next generation of culinarians to better meet the needs of the industry by providing a platform for learning and development.
The Hong Kong Chefs Association is part of the world’s largest international network of chefs, the World Association of Chefs’ Societies, or WorldChefs for short. First founded in 1928, WorldChefs includes over one hundred chef associations globally, representing over ten million professional chefs worldwide. Through WorldChefs, the Hong Kong Chefs Association actively participates in international culinary competitions, exchanges, and charitable programs around the world.
Since 2011, the HKCA has fostered the Hong Kong Culinary National Team, made up of local professional chefs from the many hotels, restaurants and other catering establishments found in Hong Kong. Over the past 8 years, the HK Culinary Team has distinguished itself in international culinary competition, representing the very best that Hong Kong has to offer, competing in over 25 different cities, winning 76 gold medals and 29 class or overall championships, raising the profile of Hong Kong chefs as among the finest in the world.
I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to join our culinary family. We offer different types of membership for various stakeholders. For more information, please visit our website (http://hongkong-chefs.com/) or our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/HongKongChefsAssociation/) so that you can keep up with the latest developments.
On behalf of the HKCA executive committee and our members, I wish you happiness, good health, and good fortune. Let’s all work together towards a better Hong Kong!
Francis Lo
