Message from the President - Hong Kong Chefs Association

Dear Culinary Friends,

Hong Kong Chefs Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to serve, develop, and promote the chef profession, with a Young Chefs arm focuses on the next generation chef community. We organize industry networking events and members’ activities to facilitate networking and sharing among culinarians; we lead chef workshops to accelerate professional chefs’ knowledge enrichment; and, for next generation chefs’ learning and development; we initiate and volunteer in charity events to give back to the community. In short, we work closely with industry organizations and partners for the betterment of the culinary industry and the society at large.

Hong Kong Chefs Association belongs to a bigger network of chefs – we are a country member of The World Association of Chefs’ Societies or Worldchefs in short. Worldchefs is a global network of chefs’ associations first founded in October 1928 at the Sorbonne in Paris. Today, this global body has 108 official chefs’ associations as members that represent over millions of professional chefs worldwide. On this front, our members can have the opportunities to participate in events, competitions and cross-the-border charity activities organized by Worldchefs.

HKCA has formally established the Hong Kong Culinary National Team end of 2011. The team members are all local chefs from different establishments, the team has grown from the initial 20 members to 65 members in 2017, including western cuisine, Chinese cuisine, and pastry chefs. For the last 5 years (2012-2016), the HK Team has competed in 39 international culinary challenges in 23 different cities, won 53 gold medals and 17 class or overall championships. The Team has traveled over 200,000 miles, 8 times round the globe to bring Hong Kong to the world, and the world to Hong Kong. The success of the team was not just about winning medals, it’s about bringing the best out of everyone, learning to be a team player and appreciating what strong teamwork can achieve, balancing life and multi-tasking. The mission can only be possible with the continuous and generous support by many industry partners – together we have made Hong Kong proud!
